As a member of the general ledger team in the accounting and finance department, this role requires preparation of monthly account reconciliations, preparation of journal entries, analysis of general ledger accounts to support monthly financial statement close process, other specific projects as assigned. The Lead Staff Accountant will report to the accounting manager but will also work with senior and staff accountants and management in accounting. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the general ledger for financial integrity and effective management of the accounting function.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare and record journal entries in the general ledger accurately, timely, and completely in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assist with annual audit engagement and various tax requests in accordance with our quarterly and annual filings.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations assigned to you (and your team).
- Assist with the monthly balance sheet review.
- Take the lead in projects or initiatives representing the department.
- Provide backup for team members.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiencies, and enhance internal controls.
- Implement best practices and standardized procedures across the accounting function.
- Participate in system implementations and upgrades to enhance financial reporting and internal controls.
- Work with Finance colleagues to identify drivers of monthly variances in the P&L.
- Work with your team to help complete the monthly close in a timely and accurate manner.
- Improve internal controls and monthly processes.
- Support annual financial statement audit (interim testing and field testing) and tax requests.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related area of study5+ years of relevant accounting experience and exposure to generally accepted accounting principles and accounting pronouncements or an equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the positionExperience researching, understanding, and applying GAAP guidance to ensure complianceExcellent written and oral communication skillsDemonstrate thought leadership when presented with a problem or question of how to account for a transaction and the ability to resolve cross-functional issues.Ability to evaluate issues, make recommendations for improvement, and solve problems independently.Highly organized and flexible with the ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks.Comfortable communicating with various levels within the company.Ability to function independently as well as within a team.Ability to mentor and develop junior staff in the department.Strong technology skills including ERPs (Acumatica) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).An equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the positionWho We Are :
