About The Position

Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract, full time position. Duties and Responsibilities Include : Complete required facility orientation. Ensure health, safety & welfare of individuals. Conduct formal and informal assessments of educational programs and behavior interventions. Supervise Teacher's Assistants / Aides and participate in the implementation of educational programs and behavior interventions. Implement and adhere to IEP / Student Program. Supervise and implement completion of program / student documentation. Supervise and delegate responsibilities to Teacher's Assistants / Aides. Complete and maintain training requirements. Complete required program documentation / certifications (e.g. Employee Medicals, PPD, CPR, etc. as required). Interact / communicate with parents, college interns, professionals, and other interested visitors. Punctuality and regular attendance is expected. Maintain participant / family confidentiality. Commitment to company values and adherence to policies. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and / or senior management. Requirements include : Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education along with an NYS certification in at least one of the following areas : Nursery - Grade 6 General Education, Early Childhood (B-2) General Education, Childhood Education (Grades 1-6), Special Education (all grades), Students w / Disabilities (B-2), Students w / Disabilities (1-6), or Pre-K - Grade 6 General Education Experience with Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis preferred. Ability to run. Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb items. Clearance through state mandated Background / Fingerprint Check(s). Cannot have worked with the DOE within 1 year DO NOT SUBMIT unless the candidate has direct, hands-on experience with non-verbal students, severe cognitive delays, frequent behavioral challenges (aggression, elopement, self-injury), and total assistance needs (feeding, toileting, mobility). This is not suitable for candidates who've only worked with verbal or moderately delayed students.
