GENERAL PURPOSE :
The Equipment Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager. Designs, builds, develops, and modifies equipment and processes to achieve safety, quality, scrap and cost targets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Identify and execute solutions for improvements in safety, quality, productivity and costs
- Design and prepare drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment for improvements
- Design, develop and build equipment for new processes and evaluate and modify existing equipment as needed. Assist in maintenance and improvement of all equipment
- Reduce process cost while improving product quality through equipment kaizens
- Provide equipment engineering support to other departments as they require it
- Develop engineering plans and designs to manufacture products in a safe and efficient manner
- Assist Engineers to develop and maintain quality sensors and poka yokes
- Prepare engineering drawings, cost estimates, manufacturing reports, and minor designs
- Work with outside suppliers and contractors to achieve SRK-OH equipment specifications
- Analyze quotations and bids and develop recommendations for new equipment
- Help to analyze customer claims and concerns to determine root causes and make or recommend countermeasures

These industry standards are necessary to ensure continued Customer Satisfaction in relationship with our philosophy of Continuous Quality Improvement.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, competencies, experience, knowledge and skills. This should include any specialized knowledge and expertise applicable to the job.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or 4 years' experience in a manufacturing process with an equipment or maintenance background.Good communication skills.Good computer skills, including Office, CAD and PLC programming.Understanding of mechanical movement, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems.Ability to read part drawings as well as equipment drawings and schematics.Experience in automotive component manufacturing.Knowledge of material handling principles and equipment; parts manufacturing equipment and processes; automated and manual assembly processes; tooling and fixture design; engineering mechanics; drafting; heat transfer; electrics and electronics; hydraulics; pneumatics; control system principles and equipment.
