We are hiring a Business Development Representative on a contract-to-hire basis for an event company in Santa Monica! The Business Development Representative (BDR) will generate and qualify new business opportunities while supporting the company’s growth. The company hosts six annual fashion exhibitions in New York and Las Vegas, helping fashion businesses showcase their brands and expand their reach.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Proactively qualify leads from inbound interest while also conducting research and generating new leads through outbound calls and emails, focusing on high-impact opportunities with companies of all sizes.
  • Build your territory by identifying and prospecting new companies via multiple platforms, including previous business data, self-sourced research, and social media trends (TikTok, Instagram, etc.).
  • Effectively communicate and establish strong relationships with companies associated with the fashion and marketing industries. Experience in these sectors is a plus but not required.
  • Collaborate with the sales team by converting qualified leads into sales opportunities and gradually take ownership of closing deals independently.
  • Sell exhibition booth space during our events to participants in the fashion industry, such as apparel brands, marketing companies, and fashion-related vendors.
  • Use Salesforce to track leads, maintain accurate records of interactions, and manage the sales pipeline.
  • Contribute to the team by fostering a high-performance, competitive, and collaborative culture focused on growth.

Key Qualifications :

  • 1-4 years of experience in sales, business development, or a related field (experience in marketing or retail is a plus but not required).
  • A self-starter mentality with the ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • High energy levels with an enthusiastic, ambitious, and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with diverse clients and organizations.
  • A proven competitive edge and willingness to go above and beyond to succeed.
  • Strong proficiency or experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce, combined with an ability to perform outreach and track progress meticulously.
  • This is a full-time, in-office position based in Santa Monica with typical work hours from 8 – 5PM. Salary is based on experience, between $60-70k, plus commission.

  • At least 1-4 years of experience in sales, business development, or retail management.
  • High level of energy, self-motivation, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with diverse business clients.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM tools for tracking sales activities.
  • Experience with outbound and inbound sales processes.
  • Knowledge or interest in marketing and the fashion industry is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in the office, 4-5 days per week, in Santa Monica, California.
