Our client, a diversified pharmacy solutions organization serving health plans, employers, and government programs, seeks an accomplished Certified Pharmacy Technician.

- Location : 100% Remote – California Residents Only (Must reside in California)
- Duration : 6 months contract w / possibility of extension or conversion to FTE role (depending upon performance)

Evaluate and authorize approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received via telephone and / or fax, using client-specific criteria.Determine the appropriateness of prescribed medications and communicate decisions to physicians, physician office staff, medical management staff, and / or pharmacists.Research, resolve, and document prior authorization outcomes in the pharmacy system.Communicate applicable prior authorization criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage details, and formulary alternatives to physicians and related stakeholders.Escalate requests to a pharmacist when extensive clinical review or a denial is required.Research, resolve, and document physician or client inquiries and grievances, and provide verbal or written responses to clients, prescribers, providers, and / or management.Verify member information and input data for pharmacists.Educate members on pharmacy-related rules, prescription processes, and medication resources or assistance programs.Process prior authorization requests from physicians' offices and ensure compliance with Medicare requirements, notifying relevant parties of all determinations.Provide resolutions to grievances and appeals issues.Maintain accurate records of prior authorizations, rebates, and monthly reports.Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required.0–2 years of pharmacy experience.Active California State Pharmacy Technician License (required).Proficiency with pharmacy computerized systems, software applications, Windows-based programs, and Microsoft Office Suite.Minimum of 6 months of dispensing or retail pharmacy experience (or equivalent internal training).Ability to follow clinical criteria and instructions to approve prior authorization requests.Preferred Qualifications :
Prior call center experience strongly preferred.Training or experience in medical or pharmaceutical terminology.Experience in medical, insurance, or pharmaceutical fields.Specialty or retail pharmacy industry experience, previous reimbursement experience, and / or experience working in a health plan or healthcare setting.Ability to handle escalated concerns calmly and professionally, with a focus on preventing further escalation.I'd love to talk to you if you think this position is right up your alley, and assure a prompt communication, whichever direction.
