Self Checkout (SCO) Attendant

Position Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED Certification. Prefer previous experience operating a cash register, handling cash or other forms of tender, preferable in a grocery store or retail establishment but not required.
Specific Duties & Accountabilities :
Greeting, inviting and offering each customer the level of service that they want. A customer should never be forced to use the SCO.
An SCO Attendant is responsible for providing assistance to customers in the SCO fast lane area and for providing fast, friendly and accurate “check out” to customers should they prefer being checked out by an SCO Attendant.
SCO Attendants follow Company guidelines observing transactions giving customers their undivided attention when needed, making sure all transactions are completed, all products are scanned and adhering to all laws and regulations restricting certain transactions.
As an SCO attendant, I am scheduled to work in the SCO Quad (“Quad”) following attendant Guidelines for assisting customers, paying special attention to their needs during the checkout process. SCO Attendant will never leave the “Quad” unless relieved by another SCO Attendant or a Manager.
I am able to operate the SCO system and a computerized cash register system to weigh, scan and process transactions and to assist in the cleaning of the check stands and surrounding areas as well as any other tasks assigned by management. When customers are backing up in the SCO area, the first regular lane to be opened will be the closest lane to the “Quad”. As an SCO Attendant, I will also from time to time assist in taking “return” products back to the proper shelf locations as directed by my supervisor.
As an SCO Attendant, I will be provided the SCO Guidelines and be trained to understand the majority if not all the possible customer / machine issues and how to properly correct them.
SCO Attendants maintain a log of daily Fast Lane / Quad issues with details and / or a diagnostic file created. All issues will be reported to the Store Director or Manager on Duty and be formally submitted to Greer’s IT department by email (itdept@greers.com) or by either a phone call (251-380-7787) with all pertinent information.
