Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Carbondale, Illinois (zip 62901) – Southern Illinois healthcare jobs

Unit : 4 Medical – 25-bed unit (11 private, 7 semi-private rooms)

Employment Type : Travel Nursing – Registered Nurse jobs

Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Hours per Week : 36 hours guaranteed

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 10 / 6 / 2025 – End : 1 / 5 / 2026)

Patient Ratio : 5-6 : 1 (nights)

Weekend / Holiday : Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1,780 - $1,910

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license (Illinois nursing license required)

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg nursing experience

Stroke certification preferred

Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts per week

Strong clinical skills in post-operative care, wound care, and acute medical condition management

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients including stroke, post-operative, hospice, and comfort care

Manage patients with heparin drips, feeding tubes, chest tubes, drains, and dialysis

Perform wound care, monitor altered mental status, and manage CIWA patients

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Maintain accurate documentation and uphold high standards of patient safety

Adapt to a dynamic clinical environment and support patients with compassion and professionalism
