JOB SUMMARY
Friend Health is seeking a skilled and team-oriented Lead Medical Assistant to support daily clinic operations while providing leadership and guidance to Medical Assistant staff. In addition to performing clinical and administrative duties, the Lead MA will serve as a resource for team coordination, training, workflow improvement, and quality assurance across the care team. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills, thrives in a fast-paced outpatient environment, and demonstrates a commitment to patient-centered care and team collaboration.
JOB DUTIES
Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Medical Assistant staff at assigned site(s).
- Coordinate MA schedules, daily assignments, and coverage needs to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Provide training, onboarding, and mentorship to new and existing MAs.
- Monitor clinical quality metrics and assist in ensuring compliance with protocols and documentation standards.
- Support clinic leadership in process improvement, supply ordering, and inventory control.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical support staff and providers to facilitate communication and patient flow.
- Assist with periodic performance feedback for MAs and relay staff concerns to supervisors.
Clinical Responsibilities
Perform all duties of a Certified Medical Assistant, including but not limited to :Assisting in exams, treatments, and proceduresCollecting and labeling lab specimensAdministering injections and immunizations
Conducting screenings and assessmentsDocumenting in the EMR (e.g., EPIC, Centricity)Monitoring equipment and maintaining stocked exam roomsAdministrative & Data Management
Track and support completion of referrals, screenings, and patient follow-ups.Ensure timely and accurate EMR documentation by the MA team.Participate in daily huddles and team-based care coordination meetings.Assist with provider desktop management and communication with external partners (pharmacies, labs, etc.)Customer Service & Communication
Uphold Friend Health’s standards for compassionate, patient-centered care.Support patients in understanding care plans, medications, and follow-up steps.Respond professionally to patient concerns and escalate as appropriate.QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED (Required)Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (Required)Current CPR certification (Required)Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a CMA or RMA (Required)Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferredStrong proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., EPIC)Excellent organizational and communication skillsSMART GOALS
Clinical Efficiency :
By the end of each quarter, ensure that 95% of patient intake and vitals are completed and documented in the EMR within 10 minutes of scheduled appointment times.(Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound)Team Development :
Train and onboard all newly hired Medical Assistants at the assigned site within 30 days of their start date, ensuring competency sign-off and EMR proficiency by week 3.Quality & Compliance :
Achieve and maintain a 98% compliance rate on monthly infection control audits and clinical documentation spot checks by Q4.WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is primarily performed in an outpatient clinical environment.May be exposed to communicable diseases, biohazardous materials, and other health and safety risks associated with direct patient contact.Occasional travel between clinic sites may be required.Must be able to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs) is required throughout the shift.Must be able to assist patients in transferring to / from wheelchairs or exam tables as needed.Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for administering injections, drawing blood, and operating clinical equipment.Ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations.EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
