Intern, Credit, South Bend, IN (Summer 2026)

Intern working as a member of the Credit Team during the Summer 2026. Credit Interns are exposed to different areas of the Credit Services department, such as Auto, Construction, Aircraft, Small Business, Commercial, Specialty Vehicle, Truck / EEF and International Business. Essential Requirements include learning the basics of Commercial Lending / Credit Underwriting, assisting with obtaining credit information, performing credit file maintenance, and attending Credit Committees as an observer to learn about the credit approval process. Complete assigned reports and / or projects by management by identified deadline. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the position. Responsible for the completion of all compliance training related to the position.

Internship Basics include a 10-to-12-week summer duration desired, flexible start and end dates, a 40-hour anticipated work week, Monday through Friday. On-site in South Bend, IN. Paid opportunity. Program Activities include Orientation Kick-off and networking opportunities with other Interns, Colleagues and Senior Management. Intern Program Activities (anticipated, subject to change) include Orientation Kickoff and networking opportunities to connect with other Interns, Colleagues and Senior Management.

Experience / Skills include a High School Diploma / GED required, pursuing bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance desired, pursuing a career in banking, proficiency in MS Office software (Excel, Word) is essential, good organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple competing tasks and demands, ability to meet deadlines, and good written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands include sitting, standing, and walking; using hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing; stooping or kneeling; and occasionally lifting and / or moving up to 10 pounds.
