Our specialists in joint replacement, sports medicine, and spine surgery are dedicated to improving patient outcomes through cutting-edge treatments and advanced diagnostics.
As part of our expansion, we are launching the Healthspan Physicals Program, a comprehensive health assessment focused on early detection, prevention, and wellness. This role is split between supporting physical therapy services (20 hours per week) and assisting with Healthspan Physical testing (20 hours per week).
Position Overview
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to deliver high-quality patient care, exercise instruction, and treatment implementation. In addition, the PTA will be periodically integrated into the Wholebody Program, supporting advanced diagnostic and performance testing.
This position is ideal for a licensed PTA with a passion for rehabilitation, exercise science, and preventive health — someone who thrives at the intersection of clinical care and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Physical Therapy Support
- Deliver direct clinical treatment in accordance with established plans of care.
- Educate and guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and injury-prevention strategies.
- Track and document patient progress, ensuring seamless communication with supervising PTs.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and uphold clinical standards.
- Represent Commons Clinic at select community outreach events. Wholebody Assessment Testing
- Assist with functional movement and strength testing, including VALD force plates, grip strength, and ergonomic evaluations.
- Guide patients through VO₂ max treadmill testing, DEXA scans, and metabolic screenings.
- Support biometric data collection (blood pressure, body composition, wearable integrations such as Oura Ring and CGM).
- Ensure smooth patient flow during comprehensive assessments.
- Educate patients on prevention, movement optimization, and recovery strategies.
- Maintain and prepare testing equipment to ensure accuracy and performance.
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and health coaches to deliver a seamless patient experience.
Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.Current California state license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.Strong knowledge of human movement, biomechanics, and functional assessments.Excellent communication and patient engagement skills.Ability to thrive in a collaborative, dynamic clinical environment.Background in exercise science, kinesiology, sports performance, or wellness coaching is a plus.Passion for preventive health, early detection, and patient optimization.Why Join Commons Clinic?
