Job Summary
The Child Mind Institute is proud to offer a one-year pre-doctoral internship designed to prepare candidates for a successful career in child and adolescent clinical psychology. The internship will begin as early as July 1 2026. Consideration will also be given to candidates who will not be able to begin the internship until as late as September 1 2026. This is an exempt position located in our New York City headquarters which offers a generous salary and full benefits as well as support for learning several evidence-based treatment programs and attending a professional conference.
Our pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology offers an extraordinary opportunity for a qualified student to receive structured training in a unique innovative multidisciplinary setting. Internship training focuses on accurate interviewing and clinical assessment for a wide variety of primary and comorbid presenting mental health concernsincluding anxiety disorders trauma obsessive-compulsive and related disorders mood disorders ADHD behavior or conduct disorders among othersas well as various evidence-based treatments for children adolescents young adults and their families. Specialized training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions including exposure and response prevention (ERP) parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) and other evidence-based treatments will be provided. Opportunities for training in other treatment approaches (e.g. parent-child interaction therapy for selective mutism PCIT-SM dialectical behavior therapy DBT) as well as psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessment while not central components of the pre-doctoral internship may be made available to interested interns.
Interns will receive educational enrichment through a series of didactics presented by our clinical staff; comprehensive individual and group supervision meetings; clinical meetings within our Anxiety Disorders ADHD and Behaviors Disorders and Mood Disorders Centers; and a series of lectures presented through our Visiting Professor Lecture Series. Interns will also be given the opportunity to give presentations to the Child Mind Institute staff as well as schools and local community organizations. Additionally there will also be opportunities to collaborate with website writers on specific topics for the Child Mind Institute website and with other services within the Child Mind Institute.
Primary Internship Faculty
The pre-doctoral clinical internship faculty includes leading clinical psychologists from our Anxiety Disorders ADHD and Behavior Disorders and Mood Disorders Centers. Each centers staff regularly collaborates with pediatric neuropsychologists clinical social workers mental health counselors child and adolescent psychiatrists and other staff from our multidisciplinary clinical team.

Pay Range
The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidates work experience education / training job-related skills internal peer equity as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this addition this salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role) if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
