Medical Collections Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist with hands-on experience using NextGEN to join our billing team. This role is responsible for managing rejected, denied, and outstanding insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the billing cycle. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and a proactive approach to resolving claim issues.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform accounts receivable collections and follow-ups to expedite insurance payments.
- Contact insurance companies via phone, mail, or clearinghouse to resolve account inquiries and update claim information.
- Communicate claim-related issues to the verification team and field staff for resolution.
- Collaborate with third-party payers to resolve processing issues and stay informed on plan requirement changes.
- Assist in refining billing policies and procedures for improved efficiency; provide updates to the Billing Supervisor.
- Prepare and contribute to monthly performance reports, focusing on key metrics such as DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
- Process appeals by gathering documentation, resubmitting claims, and tracking resolution.
- Ensure all documentation and interactions comply with HIPAA and CMS guidelines.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
