Job Details :

  • Work various shifts with no call responsibilities
  • Contract begins after 12 / 13
  • Prepare complete routine surgicals and autopsy tissues including frozen sections
  • Perform tissue processing, cutting, staining, and coverslipping procedures
  • Conduct cytology preparation, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry procedures
  • Embed all processed surgical tissue with quality and accuracy
  • Cut and stain routine H&E slides with correct patient identifiers
  • Perform all recuts and histochemistry accurately and efficiently
  • Execute immunohistochemistry stains with full knowledge of automated instruments
  • Perform antibody optimization, titration, and validation procedures
  • Operate and troubleshoot all department instrumentation
  • Maintain pathology computer system including pulling request logs and entering charges
  • Complete understanding of Copath histology billing procedures
  • Perform quality control and assurance documentation
  • Conduct maintenance checks on department equipment
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Accredited Health Science Program completion required
  • HT(ASCP) - Histotechnician or HT(ASCP)-P - Histotechnician Provisional certification required within 2 years of hire
  • Minimum 1 year of histology experience preferred
  • Must have histology training, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry skills
  • Knowledge of histology safety regulations and anatomical pathology computer systems required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
