Job Title : Patient Service Representative - Float

Allergy and Asthma Medical Group (AAMG) operates specialty clinics in the field of allergy and asthma throughout the California Bay Area. We are committed to providing our patients and families uncommon care, uncommon concern and uncommon compassion and we are dedicated to hiring and teaching health professionals with this same vision.

We are currently hiring for 2 separate Float Positions; full-time and part-time.

  • Full time : M, T, W, Th, F; 8 : 30AM-5 : 30PM
  • Part-time : M, W, F; 8 : 30AM-5 : 30PM

Floating : Floating occurs as needed; main office location will be Walnut Creek

Qualifications : Education : High school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED). Knowledge of office procedures usually obtained from a certificate or Associates degree in a business program including administrative processes and procedures, preparing patient charts, and basic computer skills. Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred

Experience : Entry level, previous office administration or receptionist experience or a minimum of one year work experience in a medical office setting.

Skills or Other Qualifications : Excellent communication skills, basic knowledge of computers, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment. Telephone etiquette, customer service, basic word and excel programs, time management, multi-tasking, organization, scheduling

Job Summary / Responsibilities :

  • Greet patients
  • Register patients according to established protocols
  • Assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance
  • Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
  • Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
  • Maintain and manage patient records
  • Move patients through appointments as scheduled
  • Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries
  • Transfer calls as required
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Collect co-pays and payments
  • Report statistics as required
  • Obtain external medical reports as required by medical professionals
  • Respond and comply to requests for information
  • Deal with incoming and outgoing post
  • Complete other clerical duties as assigned
  • Maintain stock of forms and office supplies
  • Ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean
  • Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Essential Responsibilities :

  • Assist others in developing their skills, knowledge and abilities. Serves as mentor for new staff during orientation and continue as a role model, mentor and resource to all staff in the practice.

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in your own professional development process by identifying learning needs, setting professional goals and seeking appropriate assistance and educational resources. Willingly and effectively use input from others for individual growth.
  • Demonstrate ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Apply excellent communication and teamwork skills to maintain successful working relationships with team members and other employees throughout the Practice. Listen effectively. Build appropriate rapport. Use diplomacy and tact.
  • Demonstrate ingenuity, self-reliance and resourcefulness. The Medical Receptionist is able to show assertiveness and action without needing ongoing instructions.
  • Adapt to changes in workload or unusual circumstances to promote cooperation and minimize disruption to working environment.
  • Participate in the training of new employees, and offer guidance, assistance and direction to less experienced personnel. Acts as a mentor to students and other staff members and views that staff as extension of themselves.
