Our P&C Insurance customer is seeking a Financial Operations Lead to oversee and strengthen their company's core financial operations. This role is responsible for leading the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining robust internal controls, and driving operational excellence within the Finance team. Acting as a key leader, you will manage the day-to-day finance function, guide a team responsible for all BAU (Business-as-Usual) finance activities, and ensure the integrity and timeliness of financial reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting and controllership background, deep experience in SAP Financials, and a hands-on approach to managing financial close and reporting cycles. This is not a transformation or strategy role, it's a leadership position for someone who excels in financial discipline, operational accuracy, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Financial Operations
- Oversee daily finance operations, including the full month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and consolidation processes.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial statements and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing finance operations team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
Financial Control & Governance
Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure audit readiness and compliance.Oversee balance sheet reviews, account reconciliations, and financial governance activities.Partner with internal and external auditors to support audit processes and documentation.Operational Excellence
Streamline and strengthen existing financial workflows to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in BAU operations.Identify and implement incremental process improvements within the finance function (not transformation projects).Collaborate with IT and other functions to ensure systems support accurate and efficient reporting and analysis.Reporting & Analysis
Prepare, review, and deliver timely financial reports to senior management.Support the CFO with financial insights, variance analysis, and data to guide decision-making.Ensure SAP and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) are effectively utilized to support accurate financial data flow and reporting.Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.CPA or MBA strongly preferred.Experience :
7+ years of progressive experience in financial operations, accounting, or controllership roles.Proven track record leading financial close processes for medium to large organizations.Strong knowledge of SAP Financials (FI / CO) modules; hands-on experience managing financial operations within SAP.Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI or Microsoft Synapse is a plus.Experience managing and developing finance teams in a dynamic environment.Skills :
