We're seeking an experienced Tax Supervising Senior to join our growing Tax team in the Bay Area. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional with strong technical expertise and proven leadership skills who is ready to take on greater responsibility in client management, tax planning, and staff development.
As a Tax Supervising Senior, you’ll lead the preparation and review of complex tax returns, represent clients before taxing authorities, and play a key role in both client service and staff mentorship. You’ll also contribute to practice development and community involvement, making this a well‑rounded leadership opportunity in a supportive, hybrid environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical tax reviews and approvals of returns across individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
- Manage government tax examinations and represent clients before taxing authorities.
- Take on direct client service responsibility, including participation in client meetings and tax planning.
- Support cross‑departmental efforts with larger clients alongside the audit and accounting teams.
- Supervise, train, and mentor senior, semi‑senior, and staff accountants, including performance evaluations and professional development programs.
- Contribute to business development through networking, referral sources, and community activities.
- Balance multiple deadlines with flexibility, including seasonal overtime (January‑April peak may exceed 55 hours / week).
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience in public accounting with progressive tax return complexity and research exposure.At least 2 years experience representing clients before taxing authorities.Minimum 1 year supervisory experience managing tax preparers.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s in Taxation preferred .Strong communication, leadership, and technical tax skills.Why This Role Stands Out
