Job Details

A growing manufacturing company in Santa Clarita is seeking a skilled Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. Reporting to the CFO, this role manages financial reporting, planning, compliance, and process improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep GAAP knowledge, and experience in cost accounting and ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

Oversee general ledger, AP / AR, payroll, and cost accounting functions

Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

Monitor project costing, standard costs, and inventory valuation

Ensure timely filing of tax forms including sales / use tax, W-2s, and 1099s

Supervise bank reconciliations and fixed asset tracking

Lead and mentor accounting team, ensuring policy compliance

Financial Planning & Analysis

Develop forecasts, budgets, and long-range financial plans

Analyze performance trends and variances; deliver actionable insights

Assist CFO with board reporting, dashboards, and capital analysis

Create executive presentations and monthly financial reviews

Identify cost savings and process automation opportunities

Audit & Compliance

Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls

Manage annual audit process and work with external auditors

Maintain and update financial policies and procedures

Interpret and apply accounting standards (ASC 606, FASB, etc.)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred

7+ years of experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment

Strong knowledge of GAAP, FP&A, budgeting, and consolidated reporting

Hands-on cost accounting and inventory management experience

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and / or OneStream preferred

Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Proven team leadership and cross-functional communication skills
