Energy Manager (Onsite Generation Solutions)
The Energy Manager (Onsite Generation Solutions) will support the continued development and execution of Meta's onsite generation strategy centered on a supply portfolio of cost competitive energy sources consistent with the company's overall strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of commercial success in utility negotiations, onsite generation project arrangements, and / or utility-scale generation project development, as well as knowledge of a broader spectrum of energy supply issues including commercial, regulatory, market, technical and financial expertise.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow relationships with key utility partners, Independent Power Producers ("IPPs"), generation manufacturers, market participants, regulators, policy makers and other stakeholders
- Partner with the Legal team to develop commercial arrangements for behind-the-meter power supplies with IPPs while managing the structures required to serve our facilities with reliable and cost-effective energy
- Partner with the Site Selection Team to help identify new locations in the United States that would be best positioned for use of onsite generation for new data centers
- Interface with internal organizations including engineering, data center on-site staff, site development, sustainability, policy, communications, design, construction, legal and finance
- Develop and implement plans to secure access to generation equipment for potential deployment at data center sites
- Support continued development and execution of Meta's energy supply strategy for data centers
- Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the generation manufacturing industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management
- Lead and support various energy projects as needed
- 25% Travel (Domestically)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline10+ years of experience navigating commercial energy issues associated with customer loads and generation supplyExperience representing business interests to the leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholdersExperience managing or negotiating onsite generation projectsWorking knowledge of transmission, distribution, and utility interconnection processesExperience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholdersExperience communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levelsProficiency in standard document and analytics platforms (Excel, Powerpoint, Google Docs, etc.)$152,000 / year to $221,000 / year + bonus + equity + benefits
