Job descriptionReview development plans to ensure compliance with the Marion County Land Development Code Conduct site visits, inspections, and investigations for county projects and citizen concerns Coordinate with contractors, consultants, property owners, and county departments Provide engineering support for design, permitting, modeling, and project management Supervise and oversee aspects of construction administration, including budgets, schedules, and quality control (depending on level) Prepare reports, technical studies, and presentations for stakeholders Deliver excellent customer service while supporting county policies and ordinances Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s in Civil, Environmental or Business Administration preferred) Engineering Intern (EI) within one year of hire No experience required Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s in Civil, Environmental or Business Administration preferred) Florida Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months Minimum 4 years of relevant experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s in Civil, Environmental, or related field preferred) Florida Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months 4+ years relevant experience with PE or 2+ years with PE and Master’s degree Valid Florida Driver’s License FEMA NIMS certifications (IS-100, 200, 700, 800) within 3 months of hire Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector certification within 12 months (If assigned to Office of County Engineer) Temporary Traffic Control certificate within 3 months Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, codes, and permitting processes Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines Excellent communication skills for public presentations and stakeholder meetings Proficiency in relevant engineering software and Microsoft Office Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities Opportunity to serve the community through impactful public projects Professional growth across Engineer I, II, and Senior levels Collaborative team environment with supportive leadership Excellent county benefits package Annual evaluation with potential for 5% increase Movement within the engineer matrix Personal day All positions qualify for reimbursement of moving costs Robust CIP projects Complex construction projects Department pays for CEUs & renewal of Professional Engineer licenses Room for growth Medical, dental, and vision insurance Wellness Center Wellness program (potential to save $300 per year on health insurance) Tuition reimbursement Employee clinic Annual leave and sick leave Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Florida Retirement System (FRS) 457 Plans Roth IRA Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
