Job Summary
This position is responsible for receiving animal enforcement calls, dispatching appropriate department personnel, and providing both administrative and occasional field support for shelter and regulatory operations.
Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values : Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

Minimum Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Relevant experience would be : Customer service experience, including phone calls, managing difficult or emotional situations; Dispatching services for animal services, police, EMS or fire department; Managing data entry, records and digital filing systems; and Working as an animal care professional, especially with a municipality.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and physical.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700, within ninety (90) days of hire.
Duties / Responsibilities
Temporary and Thousand Hour (1000) employees for the Mat-Su Borough do not receive a benefits package. Following is a brief description of the only benefit provided to this class of employee.
Alaska Supplemental Benefits System :
The Supplemental Benefits System (SBS) is in lieu of Social Security and is mandatory. An employee contributes at 6.13% of gross wages, matched by the Borough (6.13%), on the present wage base of $176,100.

This position is 1000 hour position and can only work 1000 hours in a twelve month period. After the initial training period, the position will be scheduled the primary working days of Sunday and Monday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and as needed to fill in and / or support the enforcement team.
