Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 12 : 00 PM (20 hours / week)

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Inventory & Technical Support Specialist provides part-time, onsite operational and technical support for the Telematics team. This role assists with inventory management, hands-on equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting of satellite monitoring hardware, and preparation of devices for customer and field deployment. The Specialist maintains accurate inventory and shipment records, updates ERP and Salesforce logs, supports warranty processing, and assists engineering, technical support, and sales operations teams to ensure equipment readiness and efficient workflow. This is a hands-on, technical, and operational role ideal for someone who enjoys working with devices, identifying issues, and keeping equipment and processes organized.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Update, maintain, and pair beacons, tablets, modems, and telemetry accessories; perform firmware updates.
  • Manage ERP shipment, delivery, receipts, and transfer processes.
  • Handle domestic and international shipping and receiving.
  • Monitor stock levels and notify operations when replenishment is required.
  • Support North American reseller and partner channels through email and phone communication.

Technical & On-Site Troubleshooting

  • After training, provide hands-on troubleshooting for hardware, tablets, sensors, and communication equipment.
  • Diagnose basic hardware failures, connectivity / activation issues, pairing errors, and configuration inconsistencies.
  • Set up, test, and prepare devices for field deployment, sales demos, or customer delivery.
  • Occasionally support field operations (deployment, troubleshooting, demobilization) as needed.
  • Administrative Support

  • Perform cycle counts and routine inventory audits.
  • Maintain tracking logs, Salesforce cases, and warranty documentation.
  • Track inbound and outbound shipments and resolve delivery issues.
  • Assist with updating technical guides, SOPs, and process documentation.
  • Monitor shipping costs and adjust client-facing shipping charges quarterly.
  • Purchasing & Accounts Payable

  • Order and restock technical consumables and office supplies.
  • Prepare purchase orders and coordinate communications with vendors.
  • Warranty Support

  • Support after-sales technical inquiries and escalation needs.
  • Create and manage RMA requests and track warranty replacements.
  • Assist in monitoring warranty trends to help reduce recurring failures.
  • Other Duties

  • Complete monthly safety checklists and compliance tasks.
  • Provide general office support and assist with light facility tasks.
  • Support cross-functional teams with equipment or logistics needs.
  • Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory operations, logistics, technical support, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot electronic devices or sensors.
  • Basic knowledge of customs, incoterms, export / import compliance, and tariffs.
  • Experience with ERP systems, inventory software, Excel, or CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform hands-on equipment handling.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite daily (8 AM-12 PM) and support occasional field deployment if needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with telemetry systems, IoT devices, sensors, or communication hardware.
  • Prior experience with RMA / warranty processing.
  • Knowledge of device configuration, firmware updates, or equipment diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with engineering, fieldwork, or technical operations.
  • OSHA or similar workplace safety training.
