Summary / Objective

The Corporate Safety Technician III (CST III) is responsible for supporting the safety program and the overall compliance of safety and compliance of OSHA requirements for their branch and as assigned. This position reports directly to the Corporate Safety Manger.

Essential Functions

  • Perform daily project safety oversight and observations at job sites and company facilities.
  • Report daily safety observation to the assigned Corporate Safety Manager and / or the Corporate Safety Representative as instructed.
  • Coordinate with project supervisors and report safety issues requiring corrective actions and / or enforcement of requirements.
  • Take immediate corrective actions and stop work for imminent threat of serious An imminent threat is a danger that is likely to occur immediately or within a very short period, posting a high risk of harm. Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates on various job sites and in an office setting. The CST III must be proficient in using standard office equipment such as computers, laptops, desk phones, cell phones photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations, noisy, and hot and cold temperatures. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The CST III will be required to wear safety compliant hearing, eye, head protection and other PPE when required. Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The CST III is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The CST III must frequently lift and move up to twenty-five pounds and occasionally lift and move up to fifty pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6 : 00 a.m. to 2 : 30 p.m. or as required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Must be willing to work holidays as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • OSHA 10 Hour Maritime (Required)
  • OSHA 3115- Fall Protection (Required)
  • OSHA 3095- Electrical Safety (Required)
  • OSHA 5410- Occupational Safety & Health Standard (Required)
  • OSHA 521- Industrial Hygiene (Required)
  • OSHA 30 Hour Maritime (Required)
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years experience in Shipyard Safety
  • Knowledge of applicable NAVSEA Safety Standard Items
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Preferred)
  • Understanding of basic safety principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Required)
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High performance and a strong team player
  • Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures

  • Pre-Employment Drug Screening
