Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is effectively followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, fostering a safe and supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans.
  • Identify patient / family teaching needs and collaborate with the Interdisciplinary team.
  • Monitor and document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with policy.
  • Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and prioritize patient and family education.
  • Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission, ensuring patient preparedness for discharge.
  • Communicate changes in patient status effectively to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Engage in team building activities to enhance unit functionality and morale.
  • Maintain communication with nursing management regarding supplies and equipment needs.
  • Assume charge responsibilities as required after orientation.
  • Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.

    • Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
  • ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (specific to CIRH).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of ICU experience is highly desired.
