Job Description Childcare Teacher

General Summary : Attend to children at Good Shepherd Academy.  Perform various tasks such as dressing, feeding, bathing, providing educational activities, and overseeing play.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Observe and monitor children's play activities.
  • Keeps records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, medications administered about activities, meals served, and medicines administered.
  • Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
  • Reads to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs.
  • Organizes and participates in recreational activities such as games.
  • Assists in preparing food for serving meals and refreshments to children and regulating rest periods.
  • Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
  • Sterilizes and prepares formulas.
  • Dresses children and change diapers.
  • Assists children with homework and schoolwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • CPR and First Aid certification

  • Educational Requirements :

  • Daycare / Preschool Teacher : High school diploma with a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an associate’s degree in early childhood education.
