JOB OVERVIEW

  • Job Type : Locum Tenens
  • Location : Blacksburg, VA
  • Service Setting : Emergency Department (Hospital + Freestanding ED)
  • Coverage Type : Clinical Only
  • Coverage Period : 06 / 18 / 2025 Ongoing
  • Clinical Shift Schedule : Montgomery ED 7a 7p, 2p 10p, 7p 7a; Christiansburg ED 7a 7p, 7p 7a

PATIENT INFORMATION

  • Patient Demographics : Adults and Pediatrics
  • Patient Volume / Census : 32,000 annual ED volume
  • Case Mix : General Emergency Medicine

    • FACILITY INFORMATION

  • Trauma Level : Level III Trauma Center
  • EMR System : Meditech
  • Specialty Backup Available : Cardiovascular, Orthopedics
  • Support Staff Available : 32 hours of physician coverage + 32 hours of NP / PA coverage daily
  • Reason for Coverage : Full-Time Vacancy

    • PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

  • Hospital Privileges Required : Yes

    • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Rate : TBD
  • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance

    • REQUIRED PROCEDURES

  • General Emergency Medicine procedures as applicable
  • History of ATLS required; ACLS and PALS if not EM Boarded

    • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Licenses : Active VA license and DEA required to start
  • Certifications : ABEM or AOBEM; ACLS, ATLS, and PALS if not EM Boarded
  • Experience : Must be board certified or board eligible within 7 years of residency completion
  • Other Qualifications : Will cross-credential at LewisGale Christiansburg

    • DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide emergency medical care at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery and Christiansburg ED
  • Work a flexible schedule across day, evening, and night shifts
  • Collaborate with APPs and other staff to provide timely and high-quality emergency services
  • Maintain documentation within Meditech EMR system
  • Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and emergency medicine standards
