We are looking for an energetic Activity Specialist to join our growing team! The right candidate has excellent communication skills and experience in geriatrics, recreation, or social administration

Responsibilities

  • Assist the activities director in creating a monthly calendar of activities.
  • Ensure that a copy of the monthly calendar of activities is placed in a prominent spot in each resident's room
  • Interview residents or family members to obtain activity preferences.
  • Coordinate and assist residents in getting to and from activity locations within the facility
  • Assist and lead activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents.
  • Document resident activity program attendance and ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative, descriptive of the services provided, and indicate the resident's response to the service.
  • Observe resident mood, behavior, and degree of involvement in the facility activities and report any changes or concerns to the Activity Director.
  • Assistant will involve residents and families in planning activities program when possible.
  • Assistant will assist with conducting in room activities programs for those residents who benefit from one to one visits.
  • Assistant will assist with offsite field trips and transportation needs when necessary.
  • Assistant will coordinate activities needs and request with other departments in a courteous and timely manner to assure that daily activities can be performed without interruption.
  • Assist with Resident Council meetings as indicated
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
  • Deliver resident mail on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Associates degree and two years experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration

Ability to communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic

Must be able to work with others in setting up for events

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Must be able to complete small set-ups independently

  • Must be able to document and record daily participation
  • Pass a drug test and background check.
