As a Senior Capital Project Engineer , you'll play a critical role driving the design, execution, and optimization of major capital projects at a leading-edge facility in Dayton, Ohio . You'll lead with innovation, precision, and integrity transforming ideas into engineered solutions that advance safety, efficiency, and long-term operational excellence.
What You'll Do :
Lead the full lifecycle of mid-to-large capital projects from design through construction, commissioning, and startup.
Define project scope, schedule, and budget , ensuring all deliverables meet engineering and operational standards.
Develop and implement engineering best practices , project management frameworks, and technical documentation.
Direct equipment specification, procurement, and vendor selection , driving cost-effective, high-quality outcomes.
Analyze manufacturing systems, identify root causes of equipment or process issues, and develop robust solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams from operations to safety to align projects with business and environmental goals.
Provide mentorship to early-career engineers , sharing hands-on expertise in process design, safety, and reliability.
Manage multiple complex projects independently, escalating only the most challenging issues to senior leadership.
What You Bring :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Ag / Biosystems, or related discipline).
4+ years of experience in capital project or process engineering (8+ years preferred).
Proven ability to lead large-scale capital projects within food, chemical, or process manufacturing environments .
Strong background in process design, equipment specification, and plant commissioning .
Ability to travel domestically to support network plant projects as needed.
Passion for working hands-on in a fast-paced, technical plant environment .
Demonstrated commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement .
Preferred Qualifications :
Mastery in executing multi-million-dollar capital projects from concept to completion.
Experience mentoring teams and influencing without direct authority.
Deep understanding of food processing, chemical, or bio-industrial systems .
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
