Description :

The role requires the provision of high-quality nursing care during labor and delivery.

Candidates must have experience with labor and preterm labor patient diagnoses.

Nurses will work in an environment with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms.

Responsibilities include circulating for surgeries, attending deliveries, and providing post-operative care.

The unit caters to low-risk antepartum and low-risk labor and delivery patients.

Special procedures include blood product administration and the use of various medical equipment such as epidural pumps and PCA pumps.

Attendance at all deliveries is mandatory.

The role may involve caring for high-risk deliveries and gyn surgeries.

Candidates should display knowledge in medication administration, including anticoagulants and insulin.

Staffing ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3 based on patient acuity.

Float duties may include postpartum and NICU assignments based on individual skill sets.

Candidates will engage in patient teaching and assessments with a focus on pain management.

Experience with the maintenance and calibration of medical devices is expected.

All nursing staff will be responsible for maintaining sterile techniques during procedures.

Compliance with safety and isolation precautions is necessary.

General census of the unit includes adolescents, infants, and adults.

Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential for optimal patient care.

Nurses will be expected to participate in ongoing education and training as required.
