This team member would be responsible for helping create course materials, exams, and more while working in a collaborative environment to refine the materials. As an Instructional Designer, you’d also be working as a subject matter expert to help guide other teams as needed with your expertise.

Summary

PDC Instructional Designers are responsible for development, enhancement, and maintenance of instructional materials for instructor-led and computer-based training related to public safety dispatch and quality assurance.

Principal Responsibilities :

  • Conduct needs / learner / job / task analysis
  • Determine and prioritize objectives
  • Select delivery systems and media
  • Develop instructional materials (storyboards, outlines, course agendas, etc.)
  • Develop product schedules; track progress, communicate details to relevant personnel and departments
  • Subject matter research
  • Produce PowerPoint presentations
  • Write course manuals and other documents
  • Write CBT / WBT content and certification exams
  • Production of CBT / WBT products & Product research
  • IAED and PDC Committee meetings & IAED Instructor Development
  • Evaluate and revise training and materials
  • Attend company meetings
  • Fulfill other duties identified and described as needed

Qualifications

Qualification / Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, technical writing, or similar field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-2 years of strong Instructional Design or Technical Writing experience
  • Multimedia development &production experience
  • Strong computer / multimedia skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good problem-solving skills and creativity
  • Physical Requirements / Essential Job Functions

  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Concentrating for long periods of time
  • Communication in person, over the phone and in virtual meeting settings
  • Regular and consistent attendance during core business hours
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying 20-50 pounds
