CNC Programmer

CNC Programmer

Pay Rate : $27-$35 hr

Program Development : Create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for 3-axis and 3+2 axis milling centers and CNC lathes.

3+2 Axis Optimization : Develop multi-faced machining strategies to hit complex features in a single setup, improving part accuracy and reducing cycle times.

Tool & Die Focus : Program precision punches, dies, and retainers, ensuring all dimensions meet strict toolroom tolerances (often within $\pm 0.0001$).

Fixture Design : Design and program custom fixtures and work-holding solutions required for non-standard precision parts.

Collaboration : Work directly with Toolmakers and Machinists to troubleshoot first-run programs and refine feeds / speeds for various tool steels.

Material Expertise : Apply knowledge of tool steel properties and the effects of deep cryogenic treatment on machinability.

Required Qualifications

Experience : 5+ years of CNC programming in a Tool & Die or high-precision job shop environment.

Software : Proficiency in Mastercam (current versions) is mandatory. Experience with SolidWorks for fixture design is a plus.

Multi-Axis Skill : Proven experience with 3+2 axis (positional) programming and setup.

Technical Skills : Strong understanding of G-code / M-code, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and advanced shop math (trigonometry).

Precision : Ability to use high-end measuring tools (micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to verify own work.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to) : $27.00 - $35.00
