Mechanical Piping 3D Designer

Midlothian, VA | Direct Hire | $80,000+ DOE

We are hiring on behalf of our client in Midlothian, VA for a Mechanical Piping 3D Designer . This is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive salary of $80,000 per year (DOE) and the chance to join a dynamic engineering team focused on industrial design excellence.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Piping 3D Designer will be responsible for designing process, service, and utility piping systems, supports, HVAC layouts, and equipment arrangements. This role requires strong technical design skills, field experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D piping designs and layouts for process, utility, and mechanical systems.
  • Support project managers with bids, proposals, estimates, scopes of work, schedules, material lists, and design documentation.
  • Conduct field work and perform technical research to support design activities.
  • Maintain accurate project files, records, and documentation.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of all project deliverables.
  • Monitor and maintain project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and assist with daily design challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

Required :

  • Proficiency in 3D design software (Plant 3D preferred).
  • Hands-on field work experience .
  • Strong understanding of heavy industrial process piping design .
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite .
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and project integrity .

    • Preferred :

  • Experience in industrial chemical processing environments .
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar software.
  • Familiarity with piping materials , fittings, valves, supports, and insulation used in industrial applications.
  • Experience with equipment layout and obtaining field dimensions in industrial environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check
