Responsibilities Work in a 54-bed Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit within an acute care setting Patient population includes those with stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and neuroscience conditions, with some medical overflow Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 days and 1 : 5-6 nights Utilizes Epic EMR and Philips telemetry monitors, with nurses not required to interpret strips independently 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), with every other weekend and every other holiday required Floating required in rotation with the staff, with full assignments on general units and limited duties when floated elsewhere Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24 / 7 for support Primary responsibilities include caring for complex neuro patients, titrating heparin drips, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams RNs may provide high flow oxygen therapy for stable patients as needed Patient care techs and nurse aides provide support, with ratios varying by shift Unit orientation includes two days with a preceptor and educator No call or standby requirement No specific scrub color, but tattoos must be covered and only ear piercings allowed while on duty COVID vaccination is not required Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a local rate Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration Minimum 1 year of RN experience Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required Must have prior travel nurse experience (first-time travelers will not be considered) Prior dedicated neuro unit experience required Level 1 trauma experience required Experience with heparin titration based on PTT is needed Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627288.
