The Outreach Counselor is a key member of the CU Denver Student and Community Counseling Center (SCCC), responsible for leading all outreach and engagement efforts across campus. This role will develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy to promote mental health awareness, increase visibility of the Counseling Center, and drive student engagement with services.

The Outreach Counselor will coordinate presentations, tabling events, and campus-wide initiatives, and will manage the Center's website and marketing materials. This position requires strong public speaking skills, comfort engaging with diverse groups, and ideally, a background or interest in marketing and communications. The Outreach Counselor will also organize staff and trainees for outreach events and collaborate with campus partners to support student wellness.

What you will do :

Core Responsibilities (All Levels) :

Lead the development and execution of a strategic outreach plan for the Counseling Center.

Coordinate and deliver presentations on mental health topics to student groups, faculty, and staff.

Organize and assign staff and trainees to outreach events, including tabling, workshops, and speaking engagements.

Manage the Counseling Center's website content and printed promotional materials.

Collaborate with campus departments and student organizations to promote mental health resources and services.

Develop systems and protocols for tracking outreach efforts and evaluating impact.

Serve as a visible and approachable representative of the Counseling Center at campus events.

Provide culturally responsive, short-term individual, crisis, and group counseling as caseload permits.

Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activities and clinical services.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, training seminars, and center-wide initiatives.Additional Responsibilities at the Senior Level(In addition to all core responsibilities) :

Provide clinical supervision to trainees, fellows, and practicum students as assigned.

Lead outreach efforts for high-priority or underserved campus populations.

Co-lead initiatives to enhance trauma-informed, culturally competent outreach practices.

Consult with staff on outreach strategies for complex or sensitive topics. Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications) Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.Fellowship Outreach Counselor (Intermediate Level) :

Masters degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a related field.

Registration with DORA in Colorado as a mental health licensure candidate (i.e. LPCC, MFTC, SWC / LSW).

One (1) year of clinical experience; may include internship or fellowship training.Senior Outreach Counselor (Licensed Level) :

Masters degree in a counseling-related field from an accredited institution.

Colorado licensure as LPC, LMFT, LCSW.

At least two (2) years of clinical experience. Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

One (1) or more years of experience in outreach, public speaking, or campus engagement.

Clinical experience working with college student populations.

Experience developing and delivering mental health presentations.

Marketing or communications experience or coursework.

Bilingual or multilingual counseling abilities.

Experience developing systems or protocols within clinical or outreach settings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

Ability to provide effective short-term psychotherapy, and work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Strong knowledge of mental health care systems, especially in higher education.

Ability to communicate effectively in public settings and with diverse audiences.

Confidence in managing outreach logistics and making strategic decisions.

Collaborative, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary setting.

Ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgment, and engage in reflective supervision.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Ability to maintain / contribute to a positive team environment.

Outstanding customer / mental health consumer service skills.

Ability to provide culturally sensitive services for clients of diverse backgrounds.

Proactive approach to problem solving and programmatic initiative. Conditions of Employment

Occasional work during the evening and / or weekends may be required.

This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences.
