AFL is seeking an experienced Product Engineer who will be part of a high-performing team responsible for the design and development of energy accessories and advanced manufacturing technologies. He / she will be responsible for accessory design and system integration in support of the manufacturing and development of energy accessories. In addition, he / she will be responsible for ensuring that products are in line with customer requirements along with current manufacturing capabilities. Desired candidates have 3-6 years of experience.

Responsibilities
Designing and executing new configurations of items in current engineering systemsDevelop / Improve Item Engineering Setup systems for both accuracy and ease of useMaintain database of manufacturing attributes for SchedulingDevelop and maintain product drawings, specifications, and data sheetsInterpret customer drawings and specifications; cross / apply to AFL products and processesAddress issues internally and externally with nonconformance of parts and materialsAssist with new item sourcing requests, and how materials and test specifications alter bills of materialDevelop design tools and methodologies for configuration of current energy accessoriesInterface with various groups like Applications Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Development Engineering to streamline item development and setupMaintain up to date knowledge as a subject matter expert (SME) on specified energy accessory product types (Substation, Transmission, Distribution, Fiber Optic Hardware, Motion Control)Represent AFL at standards and specifications meetings and groups for specified accessory product typesOther assignments as identifiedMust successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background and reference checksAdhere to and promote the environmental, health, and safety policies of AFLPersonal Qualities

Bachelor of Engineering (or other related technical discipline). Non-degreed individuals will be considered so long as they have held an engineering defined role within an organization for a minimum of 10 years4-6 years of working experience (co-op experience a consideration)4+ years of experience in a technical industry (utility and telecom preferred)Computer Skills - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access experience. Oracle or other ERP system knowledge is preferredExperience in product development and maintenance is preferredWorking Conditions
