\n Shift : 5 : 45 PM - 6 : 00 AM (17 : 45-06 : 00), including 2 out of 3 weekends with block scheduling available. Flexibility for 3 shift call-offs per week based on patient census (no charge).

Job Description :
\nWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate RN with Labor & Delivery experience to join Phelps Memorial. As a vital part of our obstetric team, you will manage, organize, and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients of all ages under the supervision of the attending physician. Your expertise will help ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care throughout the labor and delivery process.

Essential Responsibilities :
\n \n
Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs, adapting care plans based on age and developmental stage.\nDocument and report all observed symptoms, reactions, and changes in patient conditions promptly and accurately.\nUtilize the nursing process to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.\nAdminister medications adhering to the “Five Rights of Medication Administration” to ensure safety and efficacy.\nEducate patients and their families, providing age-appropriate information to promote understanding and engagement.\nMaintain a safe, comfortable environment, attending to both patient and visitor needs.\nPrioritize daily assignments efficiently to provide optimal care.\nDemonstrate annual competency in assigned specialty areas.\nUphold strict confidentiality of patient and staff information.\nAdhere to all hospital policies, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.\n\n
For Charge Nurse Responsibilities :

Assign tasks to licensed and non-licensed staff based on patient needs and staff skill levels.\nMentor and coach team members to develop clinical problem-solving and decision-making skills.\nParticipate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance department quality.\nRecognize and respond promptly to life-threatening situations, initiating emergent procedures as required.\nCollaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to foster a cooperative working environment.\n\n\n
Physical Demands : \n \n
Frequent use of hands for handling objects; frequent sitting, standing, and walking.\nAbility to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and more than 100 pounds occasionally with proper assistance.\nVisual and auditory acuity required for accurate patient assessment and care delivery.\nCapable of performing strenuous physical activity, including stooping, kneeling, crawling, and climbing when necessary.\n\n
Work Environment : \n \n
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, fumes, and potential electrical hazards.\nOccasional contact with hazardous chemicals.\nModerate noise levels typical of hospital settings.\nAdherence to OSHA and infection control standards, including bloodborne pathogen precautions (Classification I).\n\n\n
Required Education : \n \n
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.), Associate Degree in Nursing (A.D.N.), or Diploma from an accredited nursing college.\n\n
Certifications and Licenses :
\n \n
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Nebraska .\nCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification .\nCurrent Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification .\nCurrent Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required for RNs assigned to the Obstetrics Department).\n\n\n
