Overview

Founded in 1979 by a group of very involved, hands-on, highly regarded therapists, Children’s Therapy Center is on a mission to maximize the potential of children with disabilities. Our approach is to dismantle racism and ableism by offering collaborative, personalized, and family-centered physical, occupational, and speech therapy. We believe in the power of teamwork and offer early intervention services and multidisciplinary, play-based, and child-led early childhood special education.

Children’s Therapy Centers' Director of Fund Development and Marketing drives fundraising and marketing strategies that align with CTC’s mission, vision, and program needs. The role is responsible for implementing annual and long-term fund development plans while fostering a culture of philanthropy across the organization. The role builds strong relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, government and agency grants to ensure program sustainability and growth. The Director of Fund Development and Marketing is responsible for grant writing, prospect research, and reporting, using data to evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising activities and guide strategic decisions.

Additionally, this role leads donor engagement efforts, tailoring stewardship plans to maintain long-term relationships and hosting events to share CTC’s impact. As a public representative of CTC, the role requires delivering compelling speeches, facilitating community trust, and engaging diverse audiences.

Our Director of Fund Development and Marketing collaborates with the board of directors, providing resources and mentorship to enhance their fundraising impact in support of our mission

Responsibilities

Strategic Leader Core Competencies

Leads the fund development and marketing strategic vision , drives necessary change, mitigates risks, and makes high-impact decisions to ensure long-term organizational success.

Develops and maintains strong relationships , resolves conflicts, and negotiates agreements to balance organizational and stakeholder priorities.

Champions creative solutions , process optimization, and technology adoption to adapt to changing environments and drive improvement.

Fundraising and Marketing Strategy Development

Develop and implement annual and long-term fund development plans

that align with CTC’s mission, vision, and program needs.

Foster a culture of philanthropy

by integrating donor cultivation into organizational activities and community engagement.

Identify emerging trends and community opportunities

to refine fundraising strategies, campaigns, and events.

Build strong relationships

with private donors, foundations, corporations, and agency grants to support program sustainability and growth.

Lead and oversee grant writing, prospect research, and reporting

to maximize funding opportunities and align with strategic priorities.

Utilize data and metrics

to assess the effectiveness of fundraising activities and guide strategic decision-making.

Collaborate with appropriate partners

to expand CTC’s digital presence, enhance brand visibility, and implement marketing strategies that engage donors.

Donor and Stakeholder Relationship Management

Cultivate and steward relationships

with donors, funders, and stakeholders through tailored engagement plans.

Expand CTC’s donor base and partnerships

by fostering collaborations with community organizations and businesses.

Lead prospect identification, cultivation, and stewardship

efforts while involving the CEO in key partnerships and events.

Host impactful events , including building tours, to deepen connections with donors and showcase CTC’s impact.

Advocate for CTC’s mission

by building relationships with elected officials and government agencies to secure support.

Maintain long-term donor relationships , stewarding gifts, managing donor recognition, and ensuring a personalized approach to donor engagement.

Financial Management

Utilize budgets, financial reports, and projections

to guide decision-making and allocate resources effectively.

Regularly monitor financial performance

to inform adjustments to fundraising strategies and optimize resource utilization.

Oversee all aspects of gift processing , donor acknowledgment, and database integrity to support donor stewardship.

Leverage data insights

to evaluate fundraising efforts and improve financial sustainability.

Public Speaking and Presentation Skills

Deliver compelling speeches / presentations

to inspire giving, engage large groups, and represent the organization at public forums or events.

Engage diverse audiences

with compelling and accessible messaging tailored to their interests.

Facilitate discussions

to build trust and foster community support.

Lead public-relations and crisis communication plans

and strategies when necessary.

Board Engagement

Guide board members

in their fundraising roles by providing resources, training, and mentorship to leverage their networks.

Collaborate in recruiting new board members

who bring diverse perspectives and community connections.

Support the CEO

in holding board members accountable for their engagement in fund development and community outreach.

Facilitate board presentations and initiatives

to enhance their understanding and impact on fundraising efforts.

Workforce Development & Planning

Supports employee development

through regular feedback and timely professional development reviews.

Oversees department staffing needs

ensuring adequate resources for day-to-day activities.

Manages hiring, onboarding, and exit processes

as needed.

Other duties as assigned .

Required Skills, Abilities & Attributes

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Non-Profit Management, Business, Communications).

5+ years proven experience in non-profit fundraising and resource development leadership, with a record of successful results.

Experience in early learning or human services sectors is a plus.

Proven success working in the non-profit sector; effectively with Board of Directors, and in organizing and leading large events.

Demonstrated knowledge and capability in lobbying strategies, advocating effectively for organizational goals and initiatives.

Extensive experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies to effectively communicate organizational purpose, values, and impact.

Comprehensive understanding and experience working with children and family centered programs, including community outreach in family-centric environments.

Record of success in community engagement and marketing, leveraging community partnerships and grassroots initiatives to drive awareness and support.

Familiarity with data management systems, including Raiser’s Edge, to store and analyze essential organizational data.

Ability to carry out the responsibilities of a working director, providing strategic direction and oversight while actively engaging in day-to-day operations

Strong understanding of financial management principles and budgeting.

Proven success and strong knowledge of grant writing and management processes.

Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey thoughts and express ideas effectively using various oral, written, visual, and / or non-verbal skills.

Effective listening skills, including the ability to recognize, comprehend and appreciate various perspectives and diverse points of view.

Organized and detail oriented, with the ability to organize work to meet various commitments and responsibilities.

Ability to anticipate potential challenges, and adjust to changes as needed.

Collaborative and participatory; serves as an active member of the team, inviting diverse perspectives to support organizational priorities and common goals.

Job Setting and Schedule

This role operates in a hybrid job setting; onsite office environment, in-community, and remote.

Typical work onsite at CTC, in-office or in-community is 3 days per week (minimum) with flexibility to increase in-person presence based on the needs of the work and role.

Physical Requirements

Frequently involves sitting or standing for long periods of time. Requires the ability to lift objects such as a laptop, or other objects under 20 lbs. including, files; open filing cabinets, walking, bending, stooping, or reaching.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Other Requirements

Must be able to travel between CTC locations with reliable personal transportation

Attend offsite meetings and events, sometimes after hours and on weekends.

Compensation & Benefits

Children’s Therapy Center offers equitable and competitive pay commensurate with job-related experience and education. The pay rate range for this position is $92,337-$158,901 (salaried) per year dependent on related experience and education.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes generous paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and continuing education benefits. Supplemental / premium insurance options are also available. Eligible employees can enroll in our retirement plan with their first paycheck and will be eligible for company contributions after their first year of employment.
