POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing engineering and management duties on a wide array of engineering projects, specifically related to Program Management under the Water Resources Department.
This includes assisting on projects ranging from smaller ones, such as building demolitions or specialty equipment purchases, to providing Owner’s Technical Representation on large Alternative Procurement Programs that span multiple BF&S Departments.
This position includes involvement in implementation of programs from the initial concept and visioning through construction.
This involvement may include :
- Development of BF&S Design Agreements
- Master Planning and Study Reports
- Procurement and contract review on behalf of the Client
- Program Management Assistance for the Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) Program
- Constructability and Value Engineering reviews
- Civil / Site Plan Review
- Program Budget Management and Pay Application Processing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete technical design, engineering calculations, and communications duties on a wide range of engineering projects, with a focus on procurement and collaboration with various other Departments throughout BF&S.
- Collaborate with team members as well as work independently to constructively approach challenges and develop solutions.
- Ability to be versatile in duties and able to manage multiple tasks while adhering to timely completion of such tasks.
- Coordinate with technical personnel to develop construction documents and specifications either independently or under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- For Engineer : 0-4 years relevant work experience and have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
- For Project Manager : Over 4 years of experience is preferred with a Professional Engineer License.
- Strong verbal communications skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Positive attitude, is resourceful, enjoys learning, demonstrates the ability to work independently as well as with a team, and will complete tasks with quality, within budget, and on time.
- Excellent technical writing skills are essential, with considerable time spent corresponding with customers utilizing multiple methods.
- Ability to plan, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to make good decisions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes outdoors, and some physical exertion may be necessary.
