Deli Team Leader / Manager
In our Deli Department, we offer an exceptional selection of meats, cheeses, and specialty products. The Deli Team Leader is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the department, ensuring high standards in product quality, food safety, customer service, and profitability.
This hands-on role requires strong leadership to supervise, train, and develop staff, manage inventory and scheduling, and maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, customer-focused, and able to lead by example in a fast-paced retail environment. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise deli team members, uphold department standards, and deliver excellent customer service
- Monitor sales performance and manage inventory and ordering to maintain freshness and profitability
- Create and manage staff schedules; assign and oversee daily responsibilities
- Train team members in food safety, sanitation, equipment use, and department procedures
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and labeling regulations
- Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing product displays; ensure regular rotation and removal of expired items
- Collaborate with other departments on promotions and merchandising opportunities
- Interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner; take special orders in person and over the phone
- Operate and maintain deli equipment, including slicers, ovens, and wrapping tools

Must be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 5 years of deli or food service experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory roleStrong knowledge of deli products, operations, and food safety standardsValid Food Safety CertificationFriendly, positive attitude with strong communication and team-building skills
