Schedule and Compensation
Hours :Full-time, Monday through Friday, 6 : 00 a.m. to 2 : 30 p.m.Overtime :Occasional availability for overtime in the afternoons or on weekends may be required.Compensation :Competitive, based on experience.Key Responsibilities
The Cafeteria Cook is a hands-on position responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen, focusing on quality food production, efficiency, and sanitation. Core duties include :
Food Preparation :Prepare a variety of menu items, including daily specials, ensuring they are healthy, delicious, and affordable.Menu Planning :Plan and prepare theweekly specials menuInventory & Cost Control :Maintain accurate and detailed inventory records. Implement strict portion control and employ strategies to keepfood waste to an absolute minimumProcurement Assistance :Assist with the ordering process and promptly put away delivered food and supplies following proper storage guidelines.Sanitation & Safety :Uphold the highest standards offood safety and sanitation. This includes preventing cross-contamination, performing temperature checks, and maintaining a consistently clean and sanitary work environment.Equipment Care :Ensure all kitchen equipment (stoves, ovens, mixers, etc.) is cleaned and maintained on a regular basis.Adaptability :Demonstrate the ability to"think on the fly"and adjust preparation or menu items as needed to manage inventory, control costs, or respond to unexpected changes.Training :Cross-train on other positions within the cafeteria to ensure smooth, continuous operation.Qualifications
Proven Cooking Background :Must have a verifiable and successful background working as a cook in a professional kitchen environment.Independent Functioning :Proven ability to work effectivelywithout close supervision, demonstrating excellent self-management and initiative.Sanitation Expertise :Deep knowledge and experience with food handling, proper sanitation practices, andHACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principlesor similar food safety standards.Financial Acumen :Strong understanding ofportion control and food pricingto maintain cost-effective operations.Pre-employment Requirement :Must be able topass a mandatory background checkIf you are a motivated, creative, and highly organized culinary professional committed to excellence in food preparation and safety, we encourage you to apply!
