This role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and control of the Columbus site organizations' Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs and procedures to safeguard employees and the environment. The role also enables and ensures the compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements at a multi-tenant site.
Key Job Responsibilities :
- Recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazardous workplace conditions.
- Taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and health of site employees and influence safe behaviors.
- Investigating, analyzing and interpreting data from injuries and near-misses, and ensuring corrective actions are completed on time.
- Developing and implementing sustainability practices and programs related to waste, water, and greenhouse gases in alignment with our long-term goals.
- Acts as a partner in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management.
- May perform tasks associated with EH&S Compliance.
- Coordinates with business partners for EH&S concerns regarding facilities and employee practices. Will have responsibility for medical at the site.
- Organizes and maintains EH&S policies to achieve and maintain compliance with regulations.
- Manages relationships across other specialized departments to achieve and maintain compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.
- Manages a team of primarily experienced EH&S professionals.
- Owns the execution of the long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and the operational direction, typically for a business of modest size and scope.
- Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short- to medium-term focus (e.g., less than 1 year to 1 - 2 years).
- Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
- Implements initiatives that drive continuous improvements and achieve and maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
- Conducts in-depth analysis of the site for environmental opportunities to maintain environmental compliance and manage all environmental permits and reporting criteria.
- Leads audits of the EH&S management system across a multi-tenant campus.
- Leads the communication of global EH&S initiatives and comprehensive performance to EH&S professionals and upper-level management at the site.
Qualifications You Must Have :
Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of Environment, Health & Safety or related experience; OR Master's Degree with 10 years of relevant experienceQualifications We Prefer :
Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Chemistry or Chemical EngineeringStrong understanding of factory equipment, manufacturing, field safety and Environment, Health & Safety management systemsAdaptable to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategyContinuous improvement experience (e.g. ACE, Six Sigma, LEAN, etc.)Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookCapable of working with a wide range of people from the site leader to shop floor and of providing team leadership when required to meet highly aggressive goalsDemonstrated knowledge in Environment, Health & Safety regulatory and management systems, including compliance with all local / state / federal regulations regarding air, storm water, wastewater, and hazardous wasteAdditional certifications, such as CSP, CIH, P.E. or CHMM
