Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring critical care experience and Epic proficiency for a 13-week night shift contract.
Details
- Work setting is a large acute care teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 staffed beds
- PACU unit within Parkview Tower, with rotation between the PACU and a pre/post interventional radiology area
- Surgical patient population includes GU, GYN, colorectal, minimally invasive procedures, bariatric, and some ENT cases
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Shift is nights, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- On-call required: 24 hours of call per 6-week schedule period
- No weekend requirement
- Floating within the service line may be required to meet facility needs
- Charting is done in Epic; experience is required
- Navy scrubs required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required; pending IL license candidates may be considered with notation
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, telemetry, ventilator management, and IV insertion
- Minimum 1 year of PACU or critical care experience required
- Experience at a Level I Trauma Center preferred
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- PACU RNs must be proficient in managing complex postoperative patients, including care involving multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
- RNs may also manage multiple complex patients in the pre-op area
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Former permanent employees of a BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- Monthly parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
