About the Role
The Director of Maintenance Planning leads the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Planning team. This role ensures full compliance with FAA regulations, drives effective scheduling and execution of maintenance activities, and fosters seamless coordination across multiple departments. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, operational excellence, and a leadership mindset that promotes safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
This position supports a 24 / 7 operation and requires availability for off-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
A Day in the Life
You’ll…
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Maintenance Planning team, overseeing planning, scheduling, and program execution.
- Ensure all scheduled maintenance tasks are planned and completed within FAA-approved intervals across all line maintenance stations.
- Oversee daily reviews and adjustments of short- and mid-term maintenance forecasts (up to 120 days) to align with operational demands.
- Coordinate closely with Planning, Materials, Maintenance, Engineering, and Maintenance Control teams to ensure resource availability—including manpower, parts, and tooling.
- Develop and manage the Heavy Maintenance Visit (HMV) schedule, partnering with Maintenance Operations leadership to select and oversee MRO partners.
- Optimize maintenance programs for cost-effectiveness and efficiency through task packaging and visit execution.
- Support the development and implementation of bridging strategies for maintenance program changes across the fleet.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, team development, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, which may evolve based on business needs, workload, or operational requirements.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience.3–5 years of experience in Aircraft Maintenance Planning or Maintenance Programs.Proven experience managing a diverse team of maintenance planners.Strong understanding of Maintenance Planning systems and analytical maintenance principles.Working knowledge of FAA regulations, including 14 CFR 121, 14 CFR 135, and AC 120-16G.Knowledge of FAR Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Manufacturer Service Bulletins (SBs).Preferred
FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.Project Management Certification.Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies.Background in Change Management and Systems Integration.Prior airline experience managing Maintenance Planning or Programs.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Compensation is $130,000 - $150,000 / annually. This was established after performing market research and is aligned with our approach to compensation.
