The Program Director is responsible for the operational success of the regionally designated school programs of Communities In Schools of South Carolina. They are responsible for the development and management of the designated site-based program staff. They will ensure seamless team management and development, implementing the CIS model of integrated student services and program quality control.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Program Administration and Coordination :
- Oversee and coordinate the delivery of school-related programs according to the mission and goals of Communities In Schools.
- Develop and implement long-term objectives to achieve the successful outcome of school site service delivery.
- Ensure that school site activities operate within the guidelines of CISofSC policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with the Lead Site Coordinator or site coordinator to identify school site service gaps and develop / maintain community partnerships to provide services to fill those gaps.
- Develop and maintain positive partnership relationships with designated school administrators and community partners.
- Meet weekly with the Senior Director of Programming to provide updates on program operations.
- Provide written and verbal reports to the Senior Director of Programming, Senior VP, and regional Advisory Board as requested.
- Oversee grant compliance in conjunction with the Senior VP and provide program information to External Affairs as requested and needed.
Operations Management :
Manage approved annual budgets for school site operations, including approval of the site coordinator's request for spending and return of receipts.Manage the collection and maintenance of school-based CISDM information for evaluation and reporting purposes in conjunction with the Director of Data Analytics.Develops internal forms and records when applicable to document school site activities.Submit administrative reports to the Senior Director of Programming, Senior VP, and designated partners promptly.Staff Supervision and Development :
In consultation with the Senior Director of Programming, the Program Director recruits, interviews, and selects well-qualified program staff.Oversee the recruitment, training, and assignment of site coordinators (including Lead Site Coordinators) and volunteers to designated school sites.Provide direct supervision to school site coordinators (including Lead site coordinators) and other assigned site-based staff.In consultation with the Senior Director of Programming, establish reporting mechanisms and protocols for school site staff.Promote site coordinator team development by providing leadership, support, guidance, and training to ensure mature team development.Develop and maintain a team concept that includes all regional staff and does not foster separateness among school and administrative staff.Responsible for onboarding and orientation of new CIS (regional) staff as relevant to program components, including school-day operations and procedures, best practices for program development, CISDM documentation, and other areas as needed.Provide training and support for site coordinators (including the Lead site coordinators) and other designated staff on CISDM in conjunction with the Director of Data Analytics.Make scheduled site visits to meet with site coordinators, lead site coordinators, other site-based staff, and volunteers.Communicate with School Administration, solicit site coordinator evaluations from administration at mid and end of school year.Work in partnership with the AmeriCorps Program Director to support seamless program delivery and strategic member integration.Volunteer / Intern Management and Oversight :
In conjunction with the Senior Director of Programming, establish volunteer and intern protocols in accordance with the CISofSC partnerships policies and procedures.In conjunction with the Director of Training & Development, oversee the recruitment, training, and assignment of interns & volunteers to designated school sites.In conjunction with the Senior Director of Programming, develop and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program.Oversee volunteer resources to assist in the delivery of programs and services.Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in a related field required; Master's degree preferred.At least 3 years of experience working with school-age children in a public school or nonprofit setting.At least 2-3 years of supervisory experience leading or managing teams.Proven experience in nonprofit programs or project management.Proven strength in hiring, training, coaching, and retaining staff to support professional growth and elevate team performance.Demonstrated success in managing multifaceted programs and achieving measurable outcomes.Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture that promotes accountability and engagement.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess situations, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and maintain an efficient workflow.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong, professional relationships across all levels of the organization.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and skilled in using technology and data tools for management, tracking, and reporting.Personal Qualities and Character :
