Scope of Position : A Customs Brokerage Agent is responsible for accurate and timely preparation and submission of information and documents necessary to facilitate Customs clearance of our Customers' goods into the US. They will cooperate with US Customs, Partner Government Agencies, and our internal Compliance Team to ensure entries are prepared in compliance with US Government laws and regulations, Expeditors policies, and customer business rules. The ideal candidate has great attention to detail, proven critical thinking skills, and the ability to perform at a high level in an autonomous environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Operations
Actively utilize Workboard to prioritize shipment processing, based on company process standards
Proactively seek information and documents needed to key / submit all entries within expectations
Complete and submit all Partner Government Agency forms (i.e. FDA, F&W) accurately and timely
Understanding of, and timely and accurate utilization of system event codes in every file
Maintain good notes in the shipment log of each file
Compliance
10% or less error rate, weekly, as defined by Compliance review
Correct any errors discovered on entries during audit process timely (within 48 hours)
Work with Compliance to prevent errors and rework by proactively seeking guidance
Develop thorough understanding of customer SOPs, scope of work, and customer-specific metrics
Customer Service
Provide 100% customer satisfaction, 100% of the time - all communication related to customers should be professional and show that you take pride in your work, as measured by customer recognition and zero customer complaints
Actively work to resolve issues with the customer through to mutually acceptable resolution; Provide full and timely disclosure of issues and escalate quickly, where needed
Timely responses to emails both internal and external (within 24 hours)
Skills and Education Required :
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Excel and Outlook, with a minimum typing speed of 60 WPM.
Relevant industry experience is preferred
College degree preferred
High School diploma required
