Engineer I – Product Development
Engineer I is the entry level engineering position for product development. The Engineer will work under the direct supervision of a manager and / or more experienced team members, to design, prototype, inspect and test specific components and assemblies of a medical device, while creating & maintaining compliant documentation for tasks performed. The position is intended to prepare engineers new to the medical device industry for advancement to the next level of Engineer II.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Learning / education : Medical device design control.
- Part design for injection molding.
- Create & modify drawings and 3D models using CAD.
- Create prototypes of new design concepts, using methods such as 3D printing, CNC machining, building prototype molds for use in existing equipment, etc.
- Support manufacturing engineering in trial runs and process development activities for prototype tooling / processes.
- Design of fixturing & test methods for use in evaluation of new designs.
- Inspection and testing of design prototypes / pre-production samples.
- Technical report writing.
- Creating key product documentation for the "device master record", including but not limited to material specifications, assembly drawings, bills of materials, process flowcharts, etc.
- Support other team members by performing other product development activities as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.0 years of experience required.Proactive learner.Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.Proficient in CAD, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience in the industry as a student (co-op program or internship).Experience and competence reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and performance requirements.Physical / Mental Demands
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.Work may require weekend and evening work.Work may require travel.Physical activity includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 40 pounds.Work under stress in a fast-paced environment.Must be alert, able to concentrate, and use good judgment.Seniority Level
