Job Description :
We are seeking a dedicated Recreational Aide with a passion for enhancing residents’ quality of life through engaging activities. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience in a recreational care setting, strong knowledge of recreational treatment plans, and the ability to independently plan and implement activities tailored to residents’ abilities.
Key Responsibilities :
Plan, organize, and implement individual and group activities under general supervision.Assess and reassess residents’ interests, needs, and abilities through observation, conversations, and documentation.Support community reintegration by accompanying residents on excursions such as shopping, theaters, restaurants, and outdoor activities.Provide one-on-one engagement and support as needed.Coordinate activity logistics, ensuring availability and functionality of supplies and equipment, and maintain an updated activity calendar.Collaborate with dietary staff for special meal requests and off-site dining coordination.Prepare, set up, clean, and return equipment; operate audiovisual equipment.Assist Certified Nurse Aides or licensed staff with patient care tasks such as toileting, bathing, dressing, and grooming.Transport residents during community excursions as required.Attend interdisciplinary meetings and perform other related duties.Qualifications & Skills :
Minimum 2 years of recreational aide experience in long-term care or similar settings.Experience with MDS documentation required.Active BLS certification required; CNA certification preferred.Strong understanding of recreational treatment plans and leisure activities.Knowledge of human growth and development.Ability to independently execute recreational activities and treatment plans.Effective communication and teamwork skills.Creativity, initiative, and genuine interest in improving residents’ quality of life.Supervision :
Reports to a Recreational Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Activities Coordinator, or Registered Nurse (Director of Nursing or higher).
Additional Information :
