The City of Pasadena's Public Works Department is seeking an experienced Engineer (Civil) to join the Stormwater Section within the Engineering Division.
This position will manage the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater capital improvement projects that advance the City's water quality, climate resilience, and regulatory compliance goals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater treatment design, pollutant loading analysis, and water quality modeling, and have a strong understanding of the Safe, Clean Water Program (Measure W) and other state and regional grant programs.
Projects may include the design and construction of green infrastructure, infiltration and capture systems, storm drain improvements, and multi-benefit park retrofits that integrate stormwater management with community enhancements.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation in hydrology and hydraulics, water quality modeling, and stormwater infrastructure design, paired with the ability to manage complex, grant-funded municipal projects from concept through construction. This person will demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent communication and writing skills, negotiation and decision-making skills, and the ability to multi-task and solve problems.

VACANCY INFORMATION
There is currently one full-time vacancy in the Stormwater Section of the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department. The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill this vacancy and similar vacancies in the future. Candidates selected for this position are subject to a one-year probationary work period.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of California.
Possession of or ability to obtain a Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Effective January 1, 2013, new members to CalPERS or an agency with CALPERS' reciprocity or who have more than a six month break in service between employment in a CalPERS (or reciprocal) agency will be subject to the provisions of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) and will receive the 2% @ 62 benefit formula.
Employees who are current members of CalPERS or an agency with CalPERS' reciprocity, or who have less than a six month break in service between employment in a CalPERS (or reciprocal) agency and employment with the City will be enrolled in the 2.5% @ 55 benefit formula.
All employees are required to pay the full employee contribution to CalPERS.
