Power Hour is an academic support program designed to help members develop academic, behavioral, and social skills through homework completion, high-yield learning activities, and tutoring that encourages Club members of every age to become self-directed learners.
Project Requirements & Important Notes
Key Responsibilities :
Assist students with homework in math, English, science, or other subjects
Lead learning-based games and enrichment activities
Encourage positive study habits and model appropriate behavior
Foster a supportive and welcoming learning environment
Help track student progress and communicate with staff when needed
Required Skills / Experience :
Experience with subject matter (math, English, or science) for age being tutored
Volunteers must be 16 years old or older.
Desired Skills / Experience :
Experience teaching or tutoring, especially math, science and / or English. Spanish speaking.
Time Commitment : 1 hour per week or more between the hours of 2pm-6pm on weekdays, at least once per week. Consistency is important to the kids you are teaching so committing to a schedule is highly encouraged.
Onboarding Process : Application, reference checks, background check, fingerprinting, online training and orientation
Attire : No inappropriate words printed on clothing, jeans and shorts okay, tight or revealing clothing is not allowed, clothes you are okay with getting dirty, closed toed shoes
