To Move Mountains Projects is a Christ-centered organization dedicated to providing quality education to children living in war zones. Currently, we are working in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan to ensure that children have access to the education they deserve despite challenging circumstances.

Role Description

This full-time role as a Curriculum Design Manager is located on-site in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. The Curriculum Design Manager will be responsible for working with local educators and TMM's design team to develop engaging lesson plans, and designing instructional materials for grades K-8th. Additional tasks include collaborating with educators and reviewing educational content to ensure it meets organizational goals and educational standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education is required but preferred master's degree in education.
  • Experience teaching in a primary classroom (minimum of 5 years)
  • Experience teaching multiple content areas.
  • Experience in Curriculum Development and Instructional Design
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans with a team of educators.
  • Strong Research and Analytical Skills

  • Proficiency in educational technology and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience in curriculum evaluation and design that includes knowledge of :

  • Scope & sequence planning
  • Unit design (standards & performance indicators, lesson planning, projects, rubrics, and various styles of assessments)
  • Transforming learning standards into dynamic learning experiences
  • Content integration
  • Design of cooperative learning projects that connect to place-based community life
  • Vertical alignment of content and skills
  • Contributing capabilities

    The following attributes would be helpful for the position but are not a requirement. It is required to have an open mind and growth mindset to learn about following abilities and to constantly grow in them.

  • English Language Learning (ELL) training preferred
  • Experience in international education or working in challenging environments is a plus
  • Specialty in teaching a specific subject matter.
  • Experience with community engagement for real-world learning and relationship-building
  • Knowledge of the Backwards Design Planning Model ( Understanding by Design , Wiggins & McTighe)
  • Knowledge of dynamic instructional strategies and learning activities for various content areas, as well as strategies for differentiated instruction
  • Experience facilitating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies with young learners and integrating those SEL standards into teaching, learning, and classroom communities
  • Experience with project-based learning, place-based education, and concept-based learning preferred
  • Familiarity with critical pedagogy and its practical uses in curriculum and the classroom.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate workshops for small and large groups
  • Responsibilities :

  • Use research-based and current best practices to aid in curriculum design :
  • Review and revision of learning standards
  • Collaboratively design integrated units of study within the content areas of math, science, phonics, language arts, and history / social & cultural studies from Kindergarten through grade eight (or within an assigned subject area)
  • Aid in the identification and development of teaching resources and materials
  • Create and maintain updated curriculum documents / resources that make up the Nuba Mountains primary school curriculum.
  • Create and edit engaging lesson plans and projects with the support of local teachers that will allow for practical use of learned material.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with TMM team members
  • Check TMM email daily (M-F) and responding in a timely manner (within 24 hours)
