Cost Accounting Manager
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Cost Accounting Manager to join a fast-growing biotech organization focused on cutting-edge innovation in life-changing therapies. This role will oversee cost analysis, product costing, inventory accounting, and financial reporting to support strategic decision-making across manufacturing and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process related to cost and inventory, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Develop and maintain standard product costing models and cost allocation methodologies
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and R&D to analyze operational performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Monitor inventory movements, work orders, and production variances to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
- Support budgeting and forecasting of COGS, manufacturing expenses, and capital projects
- Implement and improve cost accounting systems, tools, and internal controls
- Conduct periodic cost reviews and present insights to leadership to drive operational efficiency
- Support internal and external audit requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA / CMA preferred)7+ years of progressive cost accounting or manufacturing finance experience, preferably in biotech, pharma, or life sciencesStrong understanding of GAAP, inventory valuation, and standard costingHands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, or similar)Advanced Excel skills with the ability to model data and communicate results clearlyDemonstrated track record of process improvement and cross-functional collaborationWhat's In It For You
